This main-floor sitting room had an alcove just deep enough for a desk — but an open workstation would have dominated the room. LUMI sliding panels in fluted glass with black aluminium frames now enclose the nook, turning an alcove into a genuine office without borrowing any floor space for door swings.
The fluted glass does two jobs at once: it softens the workspace — desk, task chair, wall cabinets — into a pale texture behind vertical reeding, and it lets the office borrow all of the sitting room’s daylight. Vertical bar handles run nearly the height of each panel, so the partition operates like furniture rather than construction. With the panels slid open, the desk becomes part of the room; closed, the sitting area returns to being a place to read rather than a place that reminds you of work.
LUMI is Komandor’s aluminium-framed glass partition system, manufactured in Mississauga with a choice of clear, frosted, back-painted or fluted glass. Every unit is built to the opening and installed by Komandor crews across Toronto and the GTA.
