Why we publish our prices

Cost is the first question most homeowners ask about a closet, so we answer it here, before the consultation. Komandor designs, manufactures and installs every closet with one team, from our own factory in Mississauga, which is why we can publish real starting prices rather than estimates.

The figures below are starting points. Your exact price comes on an itemized, rendered quote after a free in-home design consultation and an on-site measurement, and we can also show you an AI-generated preview of the design in your own space. For the full range of systems, see custom closets.

Custom closet price ranges (2026)

Komandor closets are priced by type. These are the 2026 starting prices and ranges for Toronto and the GTA, before tax.

Closet type 2026 price range (before tax)
Open reach-in organizers About $850–$1,400
Reach-in with sliding doors From $2,500
Built-in wardrobe (sliding-front) From $3,500
Walk-in closet From $6,000
Several closets, one home $8,000–$15,000

Prices are for the product only — installation and delivery are quoted separately.

Two ways to build a closet

Every Komandor closet is built one of two ways, and the construction sets the starting price before any doors or finishes are chosen.

  • Wall-hung systems — shelving, hanging and drawers mounted on the wall, with the floor left open beneath. Wall-hung systems start from about $850.
  • Floor-based built-ins — full-height cabinetry that stands on the floor and reads as part of the room. Floor-based built-ins start from about $1,500.

We recommend the construction that suits the room during the design consultation, whether the project is a reach-in, a walk-in closet or a built-in wardrobe.

What moves the price

  • Size and length of wall — a longer wall needs more panels, shelving and hanging, and the price follows the run of the closet.
  • Wall-hung or floor-based — a wall-hung system starts from about $850 and a floor-based built-in from about $1,500.
  • Doors — sliding doors, mirror fronts and glass fronts each change the figure; see the range of closet doors.
  • Finishes — decors stocked in Canada, or European special-order decors for a particular colour or wood grain.
  • Drawers, islands and LED lighting — each drawer bank, a centre island and integrated LED lighting add to the build.

Typical budgets by project

  • A condo bedroom reach-in — from $2,500 with sliding doors, or about $850–$1,400 as an open organizer without doors. See reach-in closets.
  • A primary-bedroom walk-in — from $6,000, with the final figure set by the length of wall, drawers, island and lighting. Weighing a walk-in against a reach-in for the same room? See walk-in vs reach-in.
  • A whole-home set — a walk-in, reach-ins and a wardrobe designed together typically runs $8,000–$15,000.

How long it takes

Production takes about 14 days from your deposit in our Mississauga plant when the materials are stocked in Canada. European special-order decors are made to order and can add 11–13 weeks. Once the closet is made, most install in a day, and your date is confirmed on your quote.

Custom closet cost FAQs

How much does a custom closet cost in Toronto? In 2026, Komandor closets start from $2,500 for a reach-in with sliding doors, $3,500 for a built-in wardrobe and $6,000 for a walk-in. Open reach-in organizers without doors run about $850–$1,400, and a home with several closets typically runs $8,000–$15,000, before tax. Each closet is priced from its design on an itemized, rendered quote. Prices are product only; installation quoted separately.
Is a walk-in closet more expensive than a reach-in?Usually, yes. A walk-in starts from $6,000 because it is a fuller build — more wall, more cabinetry, drawers and often LED lighting — while a reach-in with sliding doors starts from $2,500. A built-in wardrobe sits between the two, from $3,500. Prices are product only; installation quoted separately.
Do you price closets by the foot? No. Each closet is priced from its design on an itemized, rendered quote, so the figure reflects the wall length, construction, doors, finishes and interior fittings you choose rather than a flat rate per foot.
What’s included in the price? The published prices cover the closet itself: the system designed and made to measure in our Mississauga plant, with the doors, finishes and fittings shown on your quote. Installation and delivery are quoted separately. The in-home design consultation and the quote are free.
Do closet doors change the price?Yes. A reach-in with sliding doors starts from $2,500, against about $850–$1,400 for an open organizer without doors, and mirror or glass fronts change the figure again. See the full range of closet doors. Prices are product only; installation quoted separately.
How do I keep the cost down?Choose the construction and fittings that suit the space. A wall-hung system starts from about $850, against about $1,500 for a floor-based built-in; an open reach-in organizer without doors runs about $850–$1,400; and open shelving and hanging cost less than drawer banks and an island. Prices are product only; installation quoted separately.
How long until my closet is installed?Production takes about 14 days from your deposit in our Mississauga plant for materials stocked in Canada. European special-order decors can add 11–13 weeks. Once the closet is made, most install in a day, and your date is confirmed on your quote.
